"My Way" by Ian Brown

I kinda fell in love with this fella's music last month, when a friend of mine compared him to Liam Gallagher, who I'm a huge fan of. Compared to his early albums, he is really starting to experiment with today's indie/electronic/pop. He is not hiding the synth, wind instruments etc., but instead taking his attitude into more "TV on the Radio"-kinda stuff. His latest single, "Stellify", is placed in top 10 of my iTunes. Go buy!



"A Grand Don't Come for Free" by The Streets

Mike Skinner is definitely one of my ideals, when it comes to urban. I actually got this album from my sister back in 2004. It has ever since been one of favourite albums. The last couple of years it was hiding in the shadows of other albums, but this month I've started to dig again. Go buy all of his records, if don't own them.

NEW ALBUM
THE BEATLES REMASTERED (2009)

Well, actually I wouldn't go buy these remastered albums. I made myself clear that it was a waste of money. But when I stood in a record store sorrounded by all these fantastic albums in brand new covers, I couldn't keep my fingers to myself. I bought the first album (Please Please Me), just to hear the difference. And let me tell you now - the difference is HUGE! I haven't heard John and Paul's vocals sound so good EVER!
I'm buying the albums one by one to hear the difference step by step. Who cares about a stupid box? ;)

PEEPING TOM (2006)

I've been diggin' Mike Patton for a while now. But I think it's culminating this month. Apparently I dig almost every single thing he has recorded, no matter how toxic it sounds. Especially his attempt of making a pop album (Peeping Tom) has made an enormous impression on me.
I'm about to buy some albums from his other project called Tomahawk, which does something I would call "Club Metal" - really thrilling! Another Patton-album I'm about to buy is a soundtrack called "A Perfect Place". It's much more classic, than the other things, he has made. But it sounds terrific!

OLD ALBUM
When I was about 7 years old, Elvis Presley was like a god to me. Since that age I haven't listened to him. Untill now!
Last Saturday I decided to cheer myself up buying an album in the local CD shop. Noel had just left Oasis, so I was pretty sad, though it was weekend. I ended up with a 3 CD collection with more than 90 Elvis songs; from his early rock'n'roll to his 70's ballads. Definitely the best record, I've bought for a long time!

NEW ALBUM
I think that Arctic Monkeys' 3rd album must be the best album of the month. They've turned out to be a bit more mature on this album - and I like it. It seems to me that they sound like classic Arctic Monkeys mixed with The Dead Weather (which I love). The album is not as good as I had expected, but still a great album. Go buy it!

Single of the year

This must be the best single of 2009! I've been listening till my ears fell off - and now I can't stand the pain...

Easy like FAITH NO MORE

This was simply the biggest surprise at Roskilde Festival 2009!!!

I was forced to listen to their show, while I was queuing up for Oasis to take up the same stage. They started playing a Peaches & Herb cover; "Reunited", and after this R&B hit, they continued to their own material; hard experimental rock with refenrences to hiphop, jazz and soul.

This was definitely one of the best performances I've ever seen. This frontsinger (Mike Patton) was incredible! He could sing, shout, whisper, growl and plenty of other stuff too.

I'm really looking forward to see them again, and while I'm waiting, I'll go buy all of their albums. Untill now I've only bought "Angel Dust" and "The Real Thing" - but they're definitely both worth to recommend.

I couldn't find some Roskilde hightlights in good quality, so I found some from the Download Festival (same set). I've chosen the links for the two first tracks, which must indicate the fantastic atmosphere at their shows.

THE HORRORS - The Jesus and Mary Chain meets Joy Division

Right... This big wall of sound was hitting me bout one month ago, when they released their second studio album called "Primary Colours". The Horrors ain't trying to hide away their inspiration from Joy Division, but why should they? 'Cause they have been developed the 80's sound of post punk on this album. A really evil atmosphere characterises this album. Especially the consistent use of slanting tones makes you feel the creeps all over ya bahtay!

The big sound is distinctly inspired by The Jesus and Mary Chain. So I would call 'em a mix between Joy Division and The Jesus and Mary Chain. Enjoy!

PETE DOHERTY

Now, one thing is that this bad-ass rock'n'roller is just as skinny as I am - another thing is that I've just bought his solo album + everything ells he has ever recorded.

It all started way back in my childhood, but I just started to re-dig this lad a couple of months ago, when I couldn't find my old scratchy "Best of The Libertines"-album in my record collection. That effected me running down town to buy "Up the Bracket" - and then I did nothing ells than listening to that shit for a fucking month!!! And then I bought the second Libertines album and the two Babyshambles albums - and of course "The Blinding EP"...

I know I'm late, but never too late! 'Cause this guy has just released his solo album, "Grace/Watelands". And I must say that it is one beautiful piece of a Sunday album. My iPod has just told me that I've heard that album 11 times this weekend. And when did I do it? Refreshing my drunkin' mind, making love to my lady and reading "The Catcher in the Rye".

It's not a rock'n'roll record, but it does effect the three things above in a really good way!

I'm in fucking love with this guy!!!

The Dead Weather

Some EMI-guy told me to check out this band. And it definitely rips my balls outta my underwear!




It's Jack White's new project - and I must say, it's some of the best rock'n'roll, I've heard this year.

I have always been a huge fan of The White Stripes, but this really makes sense to me.

I think this rapper's beats must be made in hell or something like that. 'Cause hornest - I would like to kill somebody, while I heard a track called "Like Yeah".

Actually I'm not much into the new school of hip hop. I'm still listening to Run DMC and Grandmaster Flash. But maybe it's time to get on?

WEDOBAND

It's cold, it's dark outside - I'm feeling kinda bored.

I was surfin' around myspace and found this band from Århus. Later I found out that the band was formed by Jeppe Lindgren, who played the drums on my latest EP. I watched the band pictures, before I used my lazy hands to turn on the speakers... And what happened? I started to dance around the whole freakin' house, singin' along: "1 2 3 4..."

God damn it! This ain't specially original, actually it's kinda ordinary. But what ain't fucking ordinary these days? I don't know - but I know that I love this band. It helps me through these cold months.

Freakin' some B.E.A.T.L.E.S.

One of best friend is some kind of a Beatles freak. Well, last year I found out that my poor Beatles collection (containing some best of albums) was really embarrasing. So one night, while I was kinda drunk, I decided to get it over with - and buy all 13 albums.

I've just finished! Yeah, I know it's kinda late, but no matter what, it has been necessary!

It has simply been the best 13 albums, I've ever bought. I can now say from the bottom of my heart that I'm a Beatles fan!

My favourite albums must be "With the Beatles", "Please Please Me", "Revolver", "Magical Mystery Tour" and "Abbey Road".

Go do the same, if you don't own all 13 albums!

The Pains of Being Pure at Heart

Hi ho.

While hearing my favourite radio program, "Musik Nu", Tony Scott told all the listeners about this new stuff! We're talking about the best from My Bloody Valentine, Raveonettes and The Jesus and Mary Chain IN ONE SINGLE BAND. I checked out their myspace-page as quick as possible, and I fucking dig it!

All right, maybe I will prefer The Raveonettes... But still this shit really makes sense to me.

I tried to find a way to buy their album or EP, but I haven't found a way yet...

Untill then, go check the tracks on their myspace-page - they'll blow you back to the stone age of noisy rock/pop.
